How to Make your own Reindeer Food

Well, keeping in the spirit of all things holiday, we made another freebie coming your way! I know Santa is controversial these days, and whatever your thoughts/beliefs are around this particular tradition - I respect you!

For our family, Santa is still a part of this holiday season, and so finding fun ways to add some magic in while our kiddos are young has been really fun. I was gifted a bag of “reindeer food” last year and the kids had so much fun sprinkling it on the ground outside on Christmas Eve, along with some carrots on a plate inside.

I thought it would be so much fun to recreate my own version of “reindeer food” and create a printable tag you guys can attach and use if you plan on handing any out to friends and family!

This recipe is so easy and honestly you could throw a little of whatever you have lying around the house in here! Don’t have oats, sub rice, use Chex mix or pretzels, real glitter instead of sprinkles - I think you get the gist! The ingredients below makes one small mason jar of reindeer food, but could probably be split between two small snack ziplock bags too! I hope you enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup rolled oats

  • 1/3 cup cheerios

  • 1 tablespoon red crystal sprinkles

  • 1 tablespoon rainbow sprinkles

Instructions:

  1. Place all ingredients in a small mason jar or ziplock bag, and shake to mix.

  2. Print out the downloaded reindeer food tag, attach, and use or gift!
