Air Fryer Donut Holes

Alright alright alrighhhhtttt (said just like Matthew McCounaghey would)…this recipe pretty much blew everyone’s mind the other day, and I can tell you these Air Fryer Donut Holes are 100% worth the hype! Traditional donut holes are fried in a vat of oil, which means that can get expensive, and oily - which is totally fine, if that’s what you’re into!

I, on the other hand, have recently developed an insane love affair with my Air Fryer and pretty much look for any and every way to use it day and night. I haven’t put many of my air fryer experiments on the blog yet, but be on the lookout because they are A COMIN’! First and foremost, the big question: Do I need an Air Fryer? The short answer: YES, YES YOU DO. I love using ours, especially in the summer months when we don’t want to heat up the whole house by turning on the oven. The hard part is finding an air fryer that doesn’t exclusively use toxic non-stick coating or is made up of entirely black plastic (whichI recently learned is one of the most problematic types of plastic you can use, especially when cooking). I searched high and low and found this Air Fryer to be one of the only ones that use a ceramic coated basket, and that had a body made up in large part of stainless steel.

I love this recipe because it’s incredibly customizable, you can use convenience refrigerated dough, or create your own biscuit dough (gluten-free, sourdough, etc.) based on your personal preferences and it should come out just fine! Because we do fine with some gluten here and there, we just snag a roll of our favorite refrigerated biscuit dough and go to town! I usually half each biscuit and roll the two parts into individual balls and repeat until the whole roll is complete.

You can also experiment with your coatings, adding more or less cinnamon or sugar, drizzling chocolate on top, or even experimenting with some fillings (next on our list!). So if you’re ready for an easy breakfast/dessert/snack/any meal essentially, you’re going to love these Air Fryer Donut Holes!

Air Fryer Donut Holes

Ingredients:

  • Biscuit dough of your choosing (grab your fav refrigerated prepared dough or make your own!)

  • avocado oil or avocado oil spray

  • powdered sugar

  • regular sugar

  • cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Roll your dough into golf ball sized balls

  2. Spray or coat them with avocado oil and coat your air fryer basket with oil as well.

  3. Place them in your air fryer basket (not touching) and bake in air fryer at 400 degrees for abut 2 minutes, then flip and bake for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the inside dough is cooked through

  4. While the donut holes are baking, make bowls of your coating of choice. To make cinnamon sugar, I just mix my desired amount of sugar with cinnamon until it tastes just right!

  5. Once the donut holes are done, remove them, and cover them with cooking spray once more, then roll them in cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar and DEVOUR!
