Summer Basics Roundup 2021

HELLO SUMMER. But for real, I don’t think I’ve ever been as excited for the next 6 months of sun and heat. Texas summers are unlike any other in the heat and bug department (we’re talking 98% humidity on days it doesn’t rain), but I don’t know, something about this summer coming upon us feels exciting. We don’t have any big plans, but just being able to be out and about a bit more feels really good!

We are also slowly putting away our sweaters and jeans for warmer weather clothing, and that has me excited too! I’m not a big shopper, and I really like buying second hand or shopping sustainable options when I can, but in reality, I tend to do a little bit of all of the above. Sometimes I spring for a really sustainable organic option, and sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I scour poshmark for second hand option or chat with my girl Caroline from The Bluebird Collective about what items she has in stock, and sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I hit up the sale rack at Gap, Old Navy, or Target, ands sometimes I don’t. I never claim to be perfect in this regard, but always mindful! If I try something on, I feel like it’s a good quality, will be reused seasonally, and I feel great in it, I will often purchase it even if it doesn’t check all my sustainable boxes. I have two linen jumpsuits from Old Navy that I’ve had now for multiple seasons - they always make me feel great, and I can’t imagine tossing them, EVER!

This summer, I am feeling drawn to BASICS. I did a capsule wardrobe and closet cleanout with Caroline, and what stays with me over and over again are basics, mostly neutrals, that are comfortable and soft and can be paired with multiple items in my closet. I wear over and over again denim and linen shorts, looser tees that favor the front tuck, sneakers and basic sandals, and accessories that feel dainty with an edge. My “stylish” pieces tend to be things like overalls and rompers that have either a sporty or feminine flair to them.

All my jewelry I’m gravitating too is smaller, feminine, and dainty - all gold everything, and some with a funkier vibe like ear cuffs, or ear crawlers, layered necklaces and rings, etc. Throw on a slightly distressed baseball cap, and that’s what I’m living in all summer.

I’m also loving some of the multi-use tops I’ve been able to find at Gap and Old Navy that are perfect for working out in, but can also be thrown on with a pair of denim shorts and a cute bra and work double time for me!

This summer is about feeling breezy, comfy, semi put-together, but ready for anything all at once! I AM HERE FOR IT!

I’ve put together my list of favorites for this summer, and there’s a little bit of everything here! We’ve got affordable options, sustainable and ethical options, Amazon options, and everything in between! Let me know if I’m missing anything that’s on your must-have summer list! Here are a few snaps of me with some of the items I snagged!

Here are links directly to all the items I’m loving as well! I’ll add more pictures of me wearing everything as I get them, but I wanted to get these items up just in type for any upcoming memorial day sales!
